PAT Testing Service

The Electricity at Work Regulations (1989) requires "All electrical systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, any danger". This is interpreted as covering the fixed electrical installation as well as portable and transportable equipment connected to it. The Regulations also state "It is the duty of every employer and self employed person to comply with the provision of these Regulations."

British law (the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 in particular) requires that all electrical systems (including electrical appliances) are maintained (so far as is reasonably practicable) to prevent danger. Guidance from the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) suggest initial intervals for combined inspection and testing that range from three months (for construction equipment) to five years for inspection and, in many cases, never for testing (certain types of appliance in schools, hotels, offices and shops).

PAT Testing Service

Norwood Electrical (UK) Ltd offers a nationwide PAT Testing service that is both professional and reliable at very competitive prices. Each company is individual to us and we pride ourselves on our service based on good communication with our clients, catering for all portable appliance testing requirements. We believe for all contracts, organisation is a key factor in providing a reliable service, ensuring PAT Testing is carried out both efficiently and to the highest professional standard.

All PAT Testing is carried out under the IEE’s Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment and conforms to HSE guidelines. Our company is also a member of the NICEIC.

Each company or site will be presented with a Portable Appliance Inspection & Testing Report on completion of testing at a site, providing detailed information on each appliance in each department. Reports can also be presented on disc format or by our accessing our online document database for easier storage. Our report system will also act as an asset register to help keep track of all electrical appliances in your organisation.

Each appliance that passes inspection & testing will receive a green safety sticker or pass bar code label, showing all visitors and employees your serious obligation to Health & Safety issues.

Professional advice is given to company employees during testing. This helps to stop recurring failures.

A friendly aftercare service is provided to ensure clients are happy with the service they have received and to ensure all PAT Testing has been covered. Further to this, our central database will show when testing is due again at each site in your company. We will remind the relevant people when testing is due in advance. Again we base our service on good communication with our clients.

It is our aim to ensure clients are happy with the service they are receiving at all times. Through our quality service, we will help your employees to understand the importance of treating electrical appliances with care and using them for the purpose they were meant. This will allow people to use appliances in a safe environment, that are in safe working order and also to ensure the company will spend less in the long term on replacing damaged electrical items.

Please contact us if you would like a friendly discussion regarding your PAT testing requirements and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have. You can either call us on the number at the top of this page or use the contact page on this web site to contact us and we will be happy to conduct a free site survey and provide a quotation.
